To say we went through a lot as survivors of abuse and other violent crimes is an understatement. The nightmare of  abandonment, being orphaned, doesn't end when a new home is found.  The terror of an abusive home doesn't end with leaving the home, the horror of a violent crime doesn't end when the act itself is over or when or if the suspect is caught.  For many the struggle to get from victim to survivor is one that is rarely completed, much less started because most don't know how or where to start. At Inspiring Recovery Through Independent Success, we know where it starts...reclaiming or building self esteem is the cornerstone.  Each volunteer was once a victim who became a survivor...
